The angle between the minute hand and hour hand of a clock   Part-I

Concepts of clock

A.    Every Clock has three hands:-
                     1. Second hand,   2. The minute hand,   3. Hour hand
All problems in every competitive exam asked about only those of three hands.

B.    Formulae to find out
·     Normal Angle ( i.e. The angle between the minute  hand and hour hand of a clock )= 30H-11/2XM or 11/2XM-30H

(This formula is a universal formula to find out the angle formed by the hands of a  clock )
·        Reflex angle ( i.e. the angle between the minute hand and hour hand ) = 360–Normal angle.
·       ( Reflex angle is always greater than 1800 .)

C.    Short tricks to find out the angle between the hands of a clock-

1.     If the ratio between the hour hand and the minute hand is 1:3 then angle=9M/2.
2.     If the ratio between the hour hand and the minute hand is 1:4 then angle=MX2
3.     If the ratio between the hour hand and the minute hand is 1:5or 1:6 then angle=M/2
4.     If the ratio between the hour hand and the minute hand is 1:8 then angle=(M-H)X2
5.     If the ratio between the hour hand and the minute hand is 1:10 then angle=5M/2
Where M→ Minute. H → Hour

6.     Angle trace/move/create by Minute hand in 1  minute= 60 .
  15  minures =900
  30 mimutes=1800
60   minutes=3600

7.       Angle trace /move/create by Hour hand in 60 mimutes=300
    1 minute=  0.50

8.      Hands of Clocks become right angle (900 2 times every 1 hour, that is in 1st  time and 2nd  time ( except  3 O'Clock and 9 O'Clock, in 3 & 9 o’clock they form only  1 time 900  ). i.e. every 12 hrs right angle form 22 times and in 24 hrs right angle form 44 times.
D.    Coincides of hands of a Clock
v  Coincide or together or straight in the same direction:-

·    Normally, in every hour both minutes hand and hours hand clocks, coincide one time but between 12 noon/ midnight and 1AM/PM  they never get together or coincide.

Every 12 hours hands of a clock coincide 11 times (except  12  to 1 hour).

In a complete day, there are 24 hours and so in the 24-hour hands of
a clock coincides a total of 22 times.

v Coincide or together or straight in opposite direction:
·        In every hour both minutes hand and hours hand become straight 1 time in the opposite direction but from  6 o’clock to 7 o’clock they never get straight in opposite direction.

So, in a complete day, ( in 24 hrs ) the hands of a clock become straight in opposite direction 22 times.
